Solidarity campaign: the resultsA testament to our co-op members’ engagement and strong partnerships

‍Thanks to the incredible commitment of our engaged co-op members, including the ones who joined us during this campaign, our solidarity initiative celebrating Alterfin’s 30th anniversary has been a true triumph!

This success reflects not only the trust of our co-op members but also the deep, ongoing collaboration Alterfin maintains with valued partners such as Rikolto and Humundi.

Together, we are driving meaningful change on the ground.

Your shares, our shared impact

With €214,625 raised and 3,434 shares invested, the support of our new and not-so-new members enables Alterfin to provide vital capital to 6,868 smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs, helping them building autonomy and sustainable livelihoods.

Thanks to the subscriptions of shares made throughout the campaign, €2,240 was raised for Rikolto and €1,194 for Humundi.

These funds enable our shared partners to carryout vital projects that closely align with Alterfin’s mission:

  • With Rikolto’s help, CASIL will be able to advance agroforestry, empower youth through producer field schools, produce bio-inputs to restore soil fertility, support women entrepreneurs in the coffee sector, and innovate irrigation in water-challenged areas.
  • Through Humundi’s support, Arariwa will protect water sources, deliver agroecological and commercial trainings with a focus on women, raise environmental awareness via local media, promote agroecological markets, and foster community dialogue and youth leadership.

You can still join us & Keep the momentum going!

(Y)our engagement is vital.

To continue supporting these impactful projects and expand our organisations’ reach, we invite you to:

  • Donate directly to Rikolto and Humundi to fuel their ongoing work on the ground.
  • Invest in (more) Alterfin shares to grow our cooperative’s capital and empower even more farmers and entrepreneurs.

Together, we demonstrate that solidarity is powerful — for people, communities, and the planet.

Thanks again to all the participants for standing with us.

Cocoa sits at the centre of Côte d’Ivoire’s rural economy. It provides income to millions of smallholder farmers, yet it remains a fragile livelihood. Price volatility, climate risks, delayed payments and limited access to finance continue to shape daily uncertainty for farming households.

Microfinance plays a vital role in Nicaragua’s economic and social development, especially in rural communities where traditional banking services remain out of reach. Over the past decades, the sector has grown significantly, with a strong focus on group lending and social responsibility.

30 Years of Investing Together

Thirty years ago, Alterfin began with a simple but demanding idea: money should serve people — not the other way around. At the time, this was not a slogan. It was a choice. And it was a cooperative choice.
