Invitation to Alterfin’s General Assembly25 April • 2:00 PM* • Comet Meetings Louise • Brussels

We invite you to an afternoon to understand, feel, and question what finance can truly change — in people’s lives, in communities, and in the future. On Saturday, 25 April 2026, from 2:00 PM onwards, let’s meet at Comet Meetings Louise in Brussels for a key moment in our cooperative life.

Why attend?

Because the General Assembly is more than a statutory meeting.
It is a space where we share, with full transparency, what we have achieved, what we have learned, and what we want to build together.

In 2025, the year of our 30th anniversary, we continued our mission in an uncertain global context. And yet, the impact is there: entrepreneurs innovating, farmers strengthening their activities, families building resilience. So many trajectories that remind us of the strength of a model where money becomes a lever for dignity.

Whether you are curious, committed, new to impact finance, or simply eager to discover Alterfin from the inside, you are most welcome.
Bring a friend or colleague: shared perspectives make our cooperative stronger.

A unique conversation awaits you

“Finance as a Lever for Dignity”:
A dialogue between research and field practice.
Lore V., Josh O. and Simon Z.

This year, during the second part of the event, we will have the pleasure of welcoming Lore Vandewalle, Professor of Economics at KU Leuven; Josh Olson, Global Director of Impact and Engagement at VisionFund International; and Simon Ziba, Managing Director of VisionFund Zambia, Alterfin’s microfinance partners.

By bringing together research and field experience, they will explore what finance truly makes possible, its limits, and the essential conditions for sustainably improving people’s livelihoods. A lucid and inspiring exchange.

Please confirm your attendance before 15 April via the online form.

* Would you like to join us only for the second part, dedicated to our impact and the discussion “Finance as a lever for dignity”? An additional welcome is planned during the break, between 3:45 and 4:00 PM.

Women shaping coffee and leadership in Nicaragua

In 2026, the International Year of the Woman Farmer brings overdue attention to a reality that has shaped agrifood systems for generations: women are central to agriculture. Yet their access to land, finance and decision-making remains unequal.

Cocoa sits at the centre of Côte d’Ivoire’s rural economy. It provides income to millions of smallholder farmers, yet it remains a fragile livelihood. Price volatility, climate risks, delayed payments and limited access to finance continue to shape daily uncertainty for farming households.

Microfinance plays a vital role in Nicaragua’s economic and social development, especially in rural communities where traditional banking services remain out of reach. Over the past decades, the sector has grown significantly, with a strong focus on group lending and social responsibility.
